Zaren Darkblade - The Moral Necromancer

Zaren Darkblade
Age: 30
Profession: Necromancer
Zaren grew up in a warrior/soldier family of Knights and Bladesmen. His sisters, brothers, nephews, his own father and his father all fought with the sword. Zaren, on the other hand, saw little merit in the mastery of the sword and became extremely proficient with magics, especially dark ritualistic and necromancy magics. Although he was trained from a young age to use a sword, in secret, he snuck off to libraries and academies of mages to learn what little bits of knowledge he could.
Eventually becoming a proficient Necromancer, Zare still had to deal with a death of a sister. She had been a casualty of a war one of his many family members went off to fight. With his knowledge of the necromantic arts, he attempted to raise her as an Undead Knight, hoping to bring her from what he saw as a "slumber". However, despite his study and his knowledge, he was not well practiced and instead maimed his own skin, turning the hue a pale greyish colour. His sister also became a monstrosity who had to be destroyed.
His failure had quite an effect on him. He was forced to flee his family home when his family discovered the desecrated body, fearing they would kill him for his actions. While dabbling in the Dark Arts, Zaren could never bring himself to actually kill for his knowledge. Instead he became a graverobber, stealing what he needed for his experiments. He lives alone in seclusion, furthering his study and knowledge to bend magic to his will. His skin condition has left him needing to wear a robe to protect it from the sunlight. Despite this problem, he is still fit and well travelled and is able to get around, usually keeping a low profile.
He does not identify himself as inherently good or evil, but will use the dark arts to defend himself and is not against exploiting a corpse, no matter how fresh, but he does not kill for his research.
Now, stuck in this new world with little on him but his clothes and his knowledge, he drives forward hoping to re-establish his prestige and re-start his studies.
