Personality: Well-spoken, intelligent, cunning and just. However, Qualin is a very reserved man who tends to keep to himself. He shies away from physical combat as much as possible, preferring to lay cleverly designed traps or trick his enemies into retreating. He is rather unrelenting when it comes to justice, sticking with the rules and laws even when they do not necessarily suit him. He is very quick to anger. Some consider him arrogant due to his nature.

Backstory: Qualin is a well-spoken, intelligent man hailing from the far off land of Lassay. As most men in Lassay, Qualin joined the army as soon as he could at the age of 16. Qualin's talents as a paladin and strategist caught the notice of a group called the Silverwards.

The Silverwards were a group dedicated to fighting necromancers, the undead and liches. They swore an unshakeable blood-bond with other warriors dedicated to the cause, and often changed their last name to Silverward (as if they were part of a clan). Qualin carries with him an ethereal blade called "Penultima", which comes in and out of Qualin's posession. This sword was a gift, and the only relic left of the Silverward clan. Unfortunately, once one leaves the Silverward temple, they cannot return (for fear of corrupting the sanctity of the temple). Such was Qualin's fate.

Qualin and the Silverwards were responsible for driving legions of undead out of Lassay, who were commanded by the lich Odusai. Qualin constantly looks back to his "glory days" but, depressingly, finds that those glory days are gone now. Hearing news of a lich and a new breed of undead monsters infesting this world, Qualin gathered up his belongings and took a trip to Rendigroth. There, he hoped to re-establish a Silverward temple and, perhaps, find some of the former glory he once had.

While wandering the wilderness, Qualin met a strange man who did not tell him his name. The man brought him to "The Sanctuary", where he met Kilei and the Abbot. After a tour of the town, he began building a temple to house himself (and his future Silverward brethren). The temple was built close to a strange-looking mansion, where lighting flashed as Qualin broke the ground digging the foundations. He also had his first taste of combat, and briefly talked to Eli the Archmage.

By speaking to a darkness-user Acolyte named Cedric, Qualin discovered that the man who approached him was named "Sight", and he was a sorcerer. He heard rumours of Sight being evil, but did not believe them. Qualin also discovered the name of the lich he was after, however as it turns out there were two liches: Vladmir and Malignus. Malignus was long gone, and Vladmir had taken arms against Sight. Vladmir, whom Qualin believed to be responsible for the undead, had no part in them.

While working on his temple, Qualin Arc Vales and Vaur were approached by Sight, who claimed responsibility for the undead in the countryside. Qualin declared Sight his enemy and attacked. All of his attacks and those of his allies had no effect. Sight counter-attacked with a powerful lightning spell which nearly killed Qualin. Shortly afterwards, Sight attacked Luna, breaking her hand. Arc, Qualin, John Hawke and Vaur were locked out of her room. Arc managed to blast a hole through Luna's bedroom, harming his hand in the process.

Qualin met Dedtoo in his Inn while struggling to survive near-starvation brought on by the conditions in the wilderness. They briefly discussed their histories and clanship, women and other topics, eventually coming to the topic of Sight. Qualin suggested that perhaps Sight behaved in the way he was because one of the "guides" Sight mentioned a few days before, "Solaris", had been destroyed when Betelgeuse was created. Dedtoo mentioned that he could convene with spirits, which caused great excitement in Qualin, as Solaris could be communed with to learn more about Sight.

In order to distract Dedtoo, Avior and Qualin from discussing Sight, the sorcerer created a "Doppleganger" of Luna in order to trick Avior, a mage, into revealing important information he had learned. However, Avior and the others were too smart to fall for the trick. They recruited Arc/Sieg and Zaren, a necromancer, to help find and rescue Avior (and later, Luna).

While seeking refuge from Sight in Cedric's tower, Avior, Cedric, Dedtoo and Qualin once again discussed Sight, and direct action against him. Avior told Qualin of a rebellion sparked between the "Spirit King", himself, Sight and the other inhabitants of Betelgeuse and told him more about the "guides" inhabiting Sight's body. Qualin was disappointed to find that there was no army, resources, strategies or plans other than Dedtoo communing with the spirits. Qualin was furious that Avior, who claimed De Facto leadership over the rebellion, had done nothing and that he was not seeking a strategist (which effective rendered Qualin's only skill useless). Cedric and Avior stopped Qualin from angrily leaving the tower and convinced him that his selfish attitude would seriously harm the war efforts, and that any abilities Qualin once had as a strategist and swordsmen were effectively useless against Sight. They told him that the only way he or anyone else could be of use would be to learn magic, understand Sight and become individually powerful. Qualin agreed to see Eli the Archmage and learn more powerful magic.

To make a long and very eventful story short, Qualin became a paladin, got drunk and fought in the battle against Sight. He is now considering rebuilding the Silverwards, and becoming a rancher as a hobby.

Qualin was recently tortured by Nadia due to things he said to Luna and Ridgire. It caused him so much anguish that he could barely speak. He is quickly recovering, but is far more likely to fall silent if Nadia or Ridgire tell him to be quiet.

On another note, Qualin took service with Sight.

Qualin is on hiatus. He has gone to an academy to learn building skills.

Qualin has lost all memories of Sight. They are slowly returning after he spoke to Lucius Cain and retrieved as much information as possible. However, Qualin still doesn't know what Sight looks like.
