Real Video Game Series!- Betelgeuse: Legends

Hello everyone! Welcome to my personal little blog thing. Not entirely sure what to call it honestly. Well, anyways. This is where I'll be posting information on my dive into the heart of game design. I'm going to be starting on a project (along with another project, I'm working on creating a mod, however I'm more interested in this honestly). I'm going to be creating my very own videogame. This game is going to be based around the characters I have seen, and am going to see here on our Betelgeuse server. This includes some characters from the past, present, and possibly the future.

I'll be working with a new program that has been released, known as RPG VX ACE. This program allows me to create a template designed video game from scratch. I'll be working through variable coding, character design, story lines, dialogue, and much more over the next few weeks/months/years/the rest of my life.

I'm excited to get into this quickly, and would like the communitites opinions on how things are going. Which is why I decided to post this on here in the first place.

Theme:

• Medieval Setting

• Magic and Swords

• Set on a continent? If so, does it have islands around it? How about in the middle there is an ocean? A big ring? What if it were set on multiple smaller islands? Multiple smaller islands and one major one? What about 2 or 3 major islands and a multitude of minor ones?

• Betelgeuse

• No over powered classes and characters. Possibly. Possibly one or two that you cannot keep for the entire scenario?

• Have to include Sight and Eli in there. They've been with Betelgeuse for the entire thing. Not to mention the LNG server. Not sure if playable characters? Maybe they're the un-keepable characters?

• Unique stories for specific characters that I think deserve my own opinion on their story. I'm not looking for everyone's specific opinions on their story. Not just yet, I may later though. Would be nice to make games FOR people. Could prove interesting. But for now, I think it'd just limit my creativity and learning experience.


•NEW: Possibly including Aeons. My prefered term is Eidolons. These are commonly known as Summons. I think they could prove interesting. However, I'm not sure I want to try something so complex so soon..

Characters:

This section will be for keeping track of characters whose stories I'm working on, have complete, or have said no to. Please remember, none of the information in here is set in stone. Unless it's finished. Even then I could completely scrap the project for that particular character.

Looking for a character to start out with. At the moment, looks like I can only work with human/elven people. Possibly only Human. So let me here your ideas!

"Only human/elven." Not me then. Oh well.

Guess that rules Artelians out too

What I mean by that, is I can only use white/black colored skin.

Anyone can go ahead and post in the Characters section on the forums. I don't care how many characters you create either! give me as many possibilities as you can people! I've got the basic idea for the first game, and I'm rolling with it. I will give out minor *MINOR* hints as to what's going on, on here. That or I'm going to get a tumblr. Not entirely sure... probably both honestly.

First little hint: 3-4 Characters. 3 Permanent. There's a priest-esque character. There's a warrior. There's someone else, and there's the hero character. Who is still yet to be determined.

Thinking about dumbing down the 'epic' aspect of the first game, and making more of a smaller game, encompassing only one quest. This should make the goal easier to complete. Thoughts on this idea?

You could start by making a one-quest game, then if it works well you could add to it with more quests. Or make another game of the same kind, of the same area, or higher on the "Epic Scale".

That's what I'm considering. Maybe just add another island or something.. well after I release it and stuff. Sort of like a demo. Kinda. If that makes sense.

Idea: The first quest/game could be set on a smallish island and if it works well, you can travel to a larger island/continent for more quests. If it works you have options of expanding, if it doesn't work, then you didn't make a huge area/map for nothing.
